Aging isn't solely due to the loss of collagen and hyaluronic acid in the skin; gravity is also a major unavoidable factor. The Earth's pull on the human body, day after day, year after year, causes skin to sag. Drooping eyebrows are a classic example of gravity's work. So what can you do when gravity pulls your eyebrows downward?Don't worry—Botox can help restore your brows to their original position!
Dr. Brent Smith, a facial plastic surgeon at Columbia University, explains: "Botox works by weakening the levator muscle to lift the eyebrows—this is undisputed. It's like a tug-of-war: when the depressor muscle is paralyzed, the levator muscle gains relative strength, lifting the drooping brows."
While Botox injections offer effective brow lifting, they aren't the only solution for drooping eyebrows. Beverly Hills facial plastic surgeon Dr. Babak Azizzadeh notes: "Ulthera (ultrasound device) is also an excellent option. Combined with Botox, it delivers impressive non-surgical brow-lifting results."
It's worth noting that Botox injections are most effective for mild brow ptosis in individuals with strong forehead muscle function. For older patients with significant brow drooping, surgical brow lifts are often a more ideal solution.
