Injectable cosmetics are favored by many, with common materials including collagen, autologous fat, and Botox. Regardless of the material chosen, bruising is unavoidable due to bleeding caused by the needle puncturing local capillaries during injection. There's no need to worry excessively; proper pre- and post-procedure care can prevent bruising.
How to Prevent Bruising from Minimally Invasive Injections?
1. Before Injection
Avoid anticoagulant medications like aspirin for inflammation within two weeks prior to injection. Resume use strictly as directed by your doctor post-procedure.Refrain from consuming foods containing vitamin E or ginseng, as these may increase bleeding tendencies. Applying light ice packs to the injection site beforehand can help reduce pain and constrict local blood vessels, minimizing the risk of puncture. If you have a family history of bleeding disorders or a tendency to bleed easily, inform your doctor honestly before the procedure. Applying topical anesthetic cream to the area can alleviate discomfort and reduce vascular pressure, lowering the likelihood of bleeding. Additionally, avoid scheduling injections during menstruation or while breastfeeding.
2. Post-Procedure Care on the Day of Treatment
For Botox or hyaluronic acid injections, avoid compressing the treated area for 6 hours post-procedure. Monitor blood circulation at the injection site for 24 hours and refrain from hot baths for 72 hours. Mild swelling at the injection site is normal and not cause for concern. Prioritize rest and maintain a positive mindset.
3. Post-operative Care Days 2-3
Blood crusts may form at the wound site within 48 hours post-procedure. Gently wipe with hydrogen peroxide followed by saline solution. Keep the wound dry and clean while awaiting healing.Facial swelling during days 2-3 is a normal reaction. Maintain a calm mindset and patiently await the swelling to subside. Avoid using cold or hot compresses indiscriminately to reduce swelling, as this may hinder recovery. Keep the face clean and refrain from touching the injection site directly with your hands to prevent secondary infection.
4. Post-operative Care Days 3-6
Due to the rich blood supply in the face, swelling after trauma appears quickly and subsides rapidly. Once the swelling recedes, the bruised areas around the eyes will change from red to yellow, though discomfort may persist on the bridge or tip of the nose. During this period, engage in light activities like walking or gentle yoga to maintain a positive mood.
5. Post-operative Care: Day 7
By the morning of day 7, swelling has largely subsided and facial bruising has been absorbed, though the area may appear slightly unnatural with occasional skin shininess. At this point, the wound is fully healed and pain-free. However, promptly schedule a follow-up visit to have sutures removed.
Friendly Reminder
Adjust your diet post-surgery to focus on light, easily digestible foods. Increase intake of vitamin- and protein-rich foods to promote wound healing.
