As injectable aesthetics gain widespread popularity, the duration of their effects remains a topic of significant interest. Recent research by scientists at the Casey Eye Institute at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) reveals that patients receiving regular Botox injections over two years should extend the interval between treatments to better maintain results.
The study enrolled 50 women aged 30 to 50 who underwent injectable cosmetic treatments. They received injections every four months for two years. Results showed that after the initial two-year period, patients who extended the interval between injections to over six months achieved superior long-term outcomes.Professor Roger from OHSU's Casey Eye Institute stated: "These findings demonstrate that patients can achieve favorable outcomes with a more flexible injection schedule. Simultaneously, this approach significantly reduces overall treatment costs for patients."
Furthermore, the study demonstrated that injectable cosmetic treatments effectively prevent wrinkle formation. Botox, a common non-invasive injectable cosmetic agent, reduces facial wrinkles to enhance appearance. It was also the first FDA-approved neurotoxin for cosmetic use, temporarily weakening or paralyzing muscles responsible for wrinkles.
With technological advancements, numerous injectable cosmetic options are now available. The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) recommends that prospective patients thoroughly discuss injection sites and related matters with a qualified, board-certified specialist before making decisions.
