Collagen is primarily suitable for wrinkle reduction, breast augmentation, scar removal, and treating small areas of mild skin atrophy caused by disease or injury. It is not recommended for more severe wrinkles or scars. Even for minor wrinkles or scars, injecting collagen requires skillful technique.
Collagen Injection Techniques:
1. Needle Insertion: The needle should be inserted along the direction of the wrinkle groove at a 15° angle to the skin surface. The needle tip should reach the papillary dermis layer, avoiding injection into small subcutaneous blood vessels. After collagen injection, the skin should appear whitened and slightly raised. If the skin color does not whiten, it indicates the needle was inserted too deeply; withdraw the needle and reinsert it.Excess volume will dissipate within approximately 24 hours. Typically, a second injection is administered 2–4 weeks after the first. Depending on wrinkle depth and depression severity, an average of 2–3 injections achieves the desired outcome. Generally, 0.2–1.0 ml is injected per session based on defect size, though 1–2 ml may be administered in specific cases. The maximum annual injection volume for adults should not exceed 30 ml.
