For many, hives are an excruciatingly painful condition. Sometimes it comes on quickly and subsides just as fast, but other times it persists for months or even years, becoming a chronic ailment that leaves sufferers helpless and miserable.
To avoid suffering from hives, prevention is key. Since its onset is linked to allergies and weakened immunity, addressing both is essential. Boosting immunity involves regular exercise, consistent sleep patterns, and a healthy diet. Preventing allergies requires avoiding known triggers, and those with allergic constitutions must exercise caution with their diet.
Regarding treatment, several medications are currently available for urticaria. Additionally, certain traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) folk remedies may offer assistance. Below are some TCM folk remedies for urticaria. However, these are merely formulas; specific application and treatment should be tailored to the individual patient's condition. The safest approach is to seek a doctor's diagnosis and prescription.
1. Combine Fangfeng (Saposhnikovia root), Chuanxiong (Ligusticum root), Danggui (Angelica root), Shengdi (Rehmannia root), Gancao (Licorice root), Chibaishao (Red and white peony roots), Shouwu (Polygonum multiflorum root), Jiesui (Mustard seed), Huangqi (Astragalus root), and Ciji (Tribulus fruit). Decoct these herbs in water. Divide the resulting liquid into two doses and take twice daily.
2. Combine Schizonepeta spikelet, raw licorice, cowhage seed, Fangfeng, Chinese rose, moutan bark, duckweed, raw rehmannia, cicada slough, mint, and Scutellaria baicalensis in a pot. Simmer in water and consume the decoction.
3.Decoct honeysuckle, white peony root, licorice root, Schizonepeta spica, rhubarb, Kochia scoparia seed, magnolia bark, and Poria cocos in water. Divide the decoction into two portions for each dose, taken twice daily.
4. Decoct ephedra, dried tangerine peel, astragalus root, white peony root, artemisia argyi, white fresh bark, Kochia scoparia seed, silkworm sand, and cinnamon twig in water.
5. Decoct raw rhubarb, fangfeng, jingjie, jiu xiang chong, dang gui, zhi ke, huang qin, hou po, chan tui, yin chen, bo he, raw gypsum, and raw licorice together. Drink the decoction.
6.Place corn silk in a pot and decoct in water. After about 20 minutes, remove the corn silk, then add fermented rice wine and bring to a boil before taking.
7. Place Schizonepeta spikelets, Poria, white peony root, ginger, Fangfeng, jujube, Atractylodes, Astragalus, duckweed, dried tangerine peel, and licorice in a pot and decoct in water for oral administration.
8. Place calcined dragon bone and calcined oyster shell in a pot to decoct in water. Then add astragalus, codonopsis, angelica, black-headed snake, tribulus, cornelian cherry, white peony root, fangfeng, white atractylodes, white peony root, and stiff silkworm to continue decocting. Drink after preparation.
9. Required herbs include Angelica sinensis, Rehmannia glutinosa, Tribulus terrestris, Schizonepeta tenuifolia, Cicada molt, Glycyrrhiza uralensis, Saposhnikovia divaricata, Ligusticum chuanxiong, Astragalus membranaceus, Polygonum multiflorum, and Paeonia lactiflora. Place these herbs in a pot, decoct, and divide the liquid into two doses to be taken daily.
10. First decoct raw gypsum in water, then add white茅根, burdock seeds, raw licorice, groundsel seeds, fangfeng, schizonepeta, cicada slough, raw rehmannia, scutellaria, red peony, and kudzu root. Continue decocting, then divide the decoction into two doses for consumption.
The above 10 folk remedies are traditional Chinese medicine recipes for treating urticaria. Some have been verified as effective, while others are passed down from classical herbal texts. The repetition of certain herbs across these recipes indicates their therapeutic efficacy for this condition.
For any illness, prevention is generally more important than treatment. Taking protective measures to keep disease at bay is always better than seeking remedies after falling ill. This holds true for urticaria as well. To avoid urticaria, maintain daily protective practices: steer clear of allergens, strengthen your constitution through exercise, and prevent illness from taking hold.
