During winter, we may inadvertently suffer frostbite while playing outdoors due to extreme cold. Though not a disease, the itching can be quite uncomfortable. Additionally, the red, swollen areas exposed to view can be unsightly for both others and oneself. So, what are the methods for treating frostbite?
1. Applying dog oil or snake oil to frostbite is highly effective.Pure, homemade oil is best. 2. Mix chopped chili peppers and wheatgrass in a 1:2 ratio. Add water, bring to a boil for 3 minutes, strain, and use the warm liquid to soak cotton for washing the affected area once daily. For frostbitten feet, soak for 10 minutes. This method is for unbroken frostbite.
3. Char cotton until blackened, grind into a fine powder, and apply externally to the affected area once daily. This method is particularly effective for frostbite that has broken the skin.If the skin is broken or eroded, first apply erythromycin ointment. Once inflammation subsides, use Ten-Drop Water.
5. Slice a radish and soften it over a heat source like an electric stove or charcoal fire. Apply the slices to the frostbite area and continue heating at a comfortable distance and temperature. Within minutes, the affected area will feel itchy until the swelling subsides.
6. Add a few drops of yunxiang essence to hot water. Use this water to scald the frostbite area for a period, then reapply the yunxiang essence.
6. Add several drops of yunxiang essence to warm water. Use this water to scald the frostbite area for a period, then reapply the yunxiang essence.5g roasted licorice root. Divide into two doses and decoct daily.
8. Rub fresh ginger slices on frequently affected skin daily to prevent recurrence. For existing frostbite, heat fresh ginger juice into a paste, cool, and apply twice daily for three consecutive days.
9. Roast one hawthorn fruit over a stove until soft. After slight cooling, mash into a paste and apply to affected areas. Simultaneously warm the affected limb above the stove while gently massaging the paste into the skin until dry. Rinse off the paste. Repeat 3-5 times daily.
10. Soak chili peppers in white liquor for one week in a sealed container. Applying this mixture to frostbite areas reduces inflammation, relieves pain, and alleviates itching.
11. Combine 50g cinnamon twigs with 20g each of safflower, aconite, schizonepeta, and perilla. Add 3000ml water, bring to a boil, then cool slightly. Immerse the affected area in the decoction 3 times daily for 20–30 minutes each. Rub the decoction residue onto the affected area. Each batch may be used for 3 consecutive days.Symptoms like redness, swelling, itching, and pain typically subside within 10 days of treatment. This simple, practical method prevents recurrence for up to two years.
12. Boil one egg, remove shell and white, retain yolk. Place yolk in an iron spoon and gently roast over low heat until butter separates. Cool and set aside. Apply externally to affected area as needed.
