Some people, when hungry, will eat whatever they can get their hands on to satisfy their hunger. This is actually quite dangerous. There are several foods that should never be consumed on an empty stomach, no matter how hungry you are.
First: Sugar
Some claim sugar replenishes energy, so why avoid it on an empty stomach? Because consuming sugar when fasting can trigger protein-glycan reactions, impairing protein absorption. This may lead to atherosclerosis and disrupt normal kidney and circulatory functions.
Second: Garlic
Garlic is highly irritating and should never be consumed on an empty stomach. Its high allicin content can irritate the stomach lining, causing intestinal blood vessel congestion, edema, and excessive tissue fluid secretion, potentially triggering acute gastritis. Third: Bananas Bananas contain magnesium. Eating them on an empty stomach can cause a sudden spike in blood magnesium levels, which is detrimental to cardiovascular and cerebrovascular health.
Fourth: Persimmons
Autumn is the season for persimmons, sweet and delicious, but they too should not be eaten on an empty stomach. Consuming persimmons when hungry can cause them to combine with stomach acid and form hard lumps that are difficult to dissolve. This may lead to epigastric pain, vomiting, gastric distension, gastric ulcers, or even gastric perforation and bleeding.
Fifth: Oranges
Consuming oranges on an empty stomach irritates the gastric mucosa due to their high sugar and organic acid content, causing stomach discomfort and acid reflux.
