Eggs are a staple on our dining tables, and their nutritional value is well-known. However, upon closer examination, many may not fully understand eggs, and consuming them can lead to common misconceptions. For instance, certain foods are unsuitable for pairing with eggs. Do you know which ones?
Foods to Avoid Pairing with Eggs
1.Eggs should not be eaten with sugar
Many people know eggs shouldn't be cooked with MSG, but did you know eggs are also best avoided when cooked or eaten with sugar? Some regions have the habit of consuming egg custard or poached eggs in sweet syrup. However, cooking eggs with sugar causes the protein amino acids in eggs to form fructosyllysine compounds. This substance is difficult for the human body to absorb and can adversely affect health.
2. Avoid eating eggs with persimmons
Consuming persimmons immediately after eggs can easily cause gastrointestinal discomfort, and in severe cases, may lead to acute gastroenteritis or gastric stones.Generally, consuming eggs and persimmons together triggers acute gastroenteritis symptoms like vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. If ingested within 1-2 hours, induce vomiting with saltwater: dissolve 20g salt in 200ml warm water, drink the solution immediately. Repeat if no vomiting occurs to expedite purging.Alternatively, crush fresh ginger to extract juice and mix with warm water for consumption. If a significant time has passed since ingestion, promptly take laxatives to expel toxic substances from the body. 3. Avoid consuming eggs with soy milk Many people choose soy milk and eggs for breakfast. Some opt to beat eggs into soy milk, while others drink soy milk to quench thirst after eating eggs.Soy milk contains a protein called trypsin. While soy milk alone provides excellent nutrition, when trypsin combines with ovalbumin in egg whites, it often causes a loss of nutrients, reducing the nutritional value of both foods.
4. Avoid eating eggs with goose meat or rabbit meat
Eggs should not be consumed alongside rabbit or goose meat. Rabbit and goose meat have a cold nature, while eggs are mildly sweet and slightly cold. Both contain bioactive substances that can react when eaten together, irritating the gastrointestinal tract and causing diarrhea.
5. Avoid eating eggs with turtle meat
Consuming eggs with turtle meat can also lead to gastrointestinal discomfort. Turtle meat is considered greasy and heavy. Individuals with colds or cold-damp constitutions should generally minimize its intake. Pregnant women and new mothers should be especially cautious when supplementing their diets, avoiding these two foods together.
To maximize egg nutrition, proper consumption methods are essential. Avoid pairing eggs with the aforementioned foods to prevent nutrient loss and ensure optimal absorption of their nutritional value.
