Recently, some cosmetic surgery patients have been making unreasonable requests for liposuction on sensitive body areas. Liposuction specialists reiterate that many body regions are unsuitable for liposuction, and patients should avoid making unrealistic demands. Before undergoing liposuction, patients must understand that not all body areas are suitable for this procedure, as doing so may lead to unnecessary complications. Experts advise against liposuction on the following areas:
1. Areas relatively unsuitable for liposuction—the longitudinal zone of the rectus sheath, sacral triangle, anterior thigh, medial upper arm, medial knee, palmar and dorsal forearm, anterior neck, and posterior calf. These regions contain significant blood vessels and nerves requiring special attention during surgery to prevent injury.
2. Absolutely contraindicated areas for liposuction: the inguinal region (containing critical structures like the femoral artery, femoral vein, and femoral nerve); the popliteal fossa (containing the popliteal artery, popliteal vein, its branches, and the tibial nerve); the patellar region (where subcutaneous tissue is too thin for safe suction); and the gluteal fold(where the sciatic nerve passes deep beneath the skin).
These areas are unsuitable for liposuction. Therefore, individuals considering cosmetic procedures must understand that not all body regions are appropriate for liposuction-based weight loss. Failure to recognize this could lead to unnecessary complications.
