Are you familiar with Chuanxiong and Earthworm? For those prone to headaches, dizziness, or suffering from hypertension and cerebral thrombosis, Chuanxiong nourishes liver blood to treat headaches, while Earthworm regulates hypertension and cerebral thrombosis.
Chuanxiong: Nourishes Liver Blood to Treat Headaches
Headaches and dizziness stem from numerous causes. Sometimes, even after undergoing various hospital tests, no clear diagnosis emerges. This often leaves patients feeling helpless, delaying treatment until complications arise. "Only targeted treatment can effectively cure the disease," doctors say. If headaches result from blood deficiency, Chuanxiong can be taken.
Chuanxiong promotes blood circulation, regulates qi flow, dispels wind, and alleviates pain. Blood deficiency can lead to insufficient cerebral blood supply, manifesting as sallow complexion, dizziness, palpitations, insomnia, and a weak, fine pulse. Causes include excessive blood loss (e.g., trauma, heavy menstruation), irregular diet, or chronic depletion (e.g., overwork, mental exhaustion)."However, Chuanxiong should be appropriately combined with other herbs based on specific conditions to achieve optimal therapeutic effects," the doctor explained. For wind-cold headaches, Chuanxiong can be paired with Fangfeng (Saposhnikovia root) and Qianghuo (Notopterygium root). For wind-heat headaches, it can be combined with Chrysanthemum and Stiff Silkworm.
Additionally, dietary therapy can be employed for regulation. The doctor recommended that individuals prepare "Chuanxiong Eel Soup" and "Chuanxiong Clam Soup" at home. The former is made as follows: 6 grams of Chuanxiong, 15 grams of Danggui, 500 grams of eel,add cooking wine to taste. Remove the spine, internal organs, head, and tail from the eel, slice into fillets, then cut into strips. Place the angelica and chuanxiong in a muslin bag and seal it. Put the eel strips and herb bag into a pot, add cooking wine, seasonings, and an appropriate amount of water. Bring to a boil over high heat, skim off the foam, then simmer over low heat for 1 hour. Remove the herb bag, add MSG to taste, and serve.
Note: Contraindicated for individuals with yin deficiency with excessive heat or qi deficiency.
Earthworm: Regulates hypertension and cerebral thrombosis
Cerebral hypoperfusion is termed the "silent killer" of the elderly. Extensive research by domestic and international medical experts indicates that chronic cerebral hypoperfusion precedes the onset of both Alzheimer's disease and cerebral infarction. If chronic cerebral hypoperfusion is not treated promptly, it may lead to the onset of "senile dementia" and "cerebral infarction." In other words, reducing hypertension and cerebral thrombosis can help alleviate cerebral hypoperfusion.
Guangxi is a major producer of earthworms, also known as "earthworms." Doctors indicate that earthworms help lower blood pressure and prevent blood clots. Citizens can use earthworms as a dietary therapy to prevent and manage hypertension and cerebral thrombosis. Preparing earthworms is simple: remove impurities and sun-dry them.Earthworms can be stir-fried, juiced from raw earthworms, or decocted in water. "If the taste is too fishy, it's best to use a decoction with a small amount of dried tangerine peel, or stir-fry them until fragrant and take them as a powder to reduce vomiting reactions," the doctor said.
However, vigilance for adverse reactions is crucial during consumption. "Excessive doses may cause headaches, dizziness, abdominal pain, or breathing difficulties," the doctor cautioned. Some individuals may experience allergic reactions; symptoms like lip numbness, rashes, or pallor warrant immediate discontinuation.
