As autumn arrives and appetites grow, those "autumn pounds" sneak up on us. How can we prevent weight gain during fall and winter? Recently, Japan's beauty and health website "Beauty Ranger" shared several methods to enjoy hearty meals without worrying about weight gain during the colder months. Consider these tips:
Eat vegetables before grains. It's recommended to change your eating order: start with vegetables, then move on to staples like rice or bread, and finish with main dishes like fish or meat. The reason is that staples contain large amounts of carbohydrates. Eating them on an empty stomach causes blood sugar to spike, triggering the body to secrete large amounts of insulin, which promotes fat synthesis. Vegetables, on the other hand, are rich in dietary fiber. Eating them first helps prevent rapid blood sugar increases and inhibits the body's absorption of fat.
Eat an orange before meals. Most citrus fruits contain alkaloids that promote fat breakdown and boost metabolism. Additionally, oranges are rich in dietary fiber, which helps reduce fat absorption when consumed before meals. Note that green-skinned, unripe oranges contain higher levels of alkaloids.Fish, especially saltwater varieties, are rich in EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid), which helps burn body fat, boost metabolism, and reduce triglycerides. Aim to eat fish at least three times a week.
Pair meat with mushrooms. If choosing meat as your main course, combine it with mushrooms. Mushrooms are low-calorie, high-fiber foods. Their polysaccharides inhibit fat absorption and promote its elimination from the body.
