Method 1: Oral Consumption. Generally not recommended, as high-quality pearl powder is required for ingestion. However, oral pearl powder can supplement calcium, improve sleep quality, and delay aging. Note that pearl powder has cooling properties, so those with a cold constitution should avoid it. Individuals with sensitive stomachs should also refrain, as long-term consumption may cause digestive issues or diarrhea.
Method Two: Topical Application. Topical application is more common, primarily aimed at skin whitening. To enhance absorption and ensure the powder adheres well to the skin, mix a moderate amount of pearl powder with milk and a touch of honey.

Pearl Powder Aloe Vera Mask
Mix 2 tablespoons of aloe vera juice with 2 tablespoons of flour and 0.15g of pearl powder into a paste. Apply to the face. Once slightly dry, apply a second layer. Leave on for about 30 minutes, then rinse off.
Benefits: Tightens skin, promotes blood circulation, and prevents sagging.
This mask offers excellent anti-inflammatory and acne-fighting effects while feeling refreshingly light. Use high-quality aloe vera juice mixed with pearl powder. Aloe juice has a mildly acidic pH, but this does not affect the pearl powder. Some individuals may be allergic to aloe vera juice. Therefore, it is advisable to conduct a patch test before use. If allergic to aloe vera juice, consider substituting with tea tree or lavender hydrosol mixed with pearl powder for a sheet mask.
Authenticity Check for Pearl Powder
1. Identify the Type:
Seawater pearls require extensive processing to produce pure pearl powder, as the nucleus must be removed first. This process is costly and difficult, and even when processed, the purity is significantly reduced. Freshwater pearl powder has higher purity than seawater pearl powder.
2. Check Packaging:
High-quality pearl powder is typically sealed in bottles to minimize exposure to air and skin contact, ensuring better preservation. Bagged packaging is less suitable for storage and user convenience, and low-cost packaging is often a hotspot for counterfeits.
3. Check the quantity:
Premium pearl powder is in high demand and often sold out, with an average bottle weight around 30g. Inferior or counterfeit powders typically use low-cost, large-volume packaging. Exercise caution when encountering products exceeding 100g (especially in bags).
4. Check fineness:
Finer pearl powder is superior. However, fineness is measured in "microns," not "mesh" or "ten-thousand mesh." "Nano-level" pearl powder does not exist, so misleading claims reveal counterfeit products.High-quality pearl powder on the market averages over 6 yuan per gram. Exercise caution with bagged pearl powder priced below 1 yuan per gram.
6. Observe the color:
Good pearl powder matches the natural pearl luster, presenting a delicate, original pearl white hue. The powder is silky smooth and fine, with visible small clusters that break apart easily upon touch but show no clumping.Poor-quality or counterfeit pearl powder appears either ghostly white (due to adulteration), grayish (indicating heavy metals), yellowish (from high-temperature damage), or blackish (suggesting shell powder).
7. Test the skin feel:
High-quality pearl powder feels smooth and fine when rubbed between fingers, with no gritty sensation. After rubbing, a thin layer of fine powder adheres to fingertips and spreads evenly on skin. Inferior or fake pearl powder feels coarse with noticeable grit when rubbed.
8. Smell:
After rubbing pearl powder between fingers, high-quality powder emits only a faint, natural pearl-like scent or is nearly odorless. Inferior powder has a distinct foul odor (resembling sweaty feet). Mixing with water may intensify this smell.
9. Taste:
Genuine pearl powder is safe for oral consumption, featuring a silky-smooth texture that dissolves instantly without gritty sensation. Inferior or counterfeit powders exhibit granular texture, off-flavors, or even burnt/foul tastes.
