I. Cleansing Creams Outperform Foaming Cleansers
Many prefer foaming cleansers for their convenience, but the foaming agents they contain offer no superior cleansing benefits and may irritate the skin. Long-term use can increase skin sensitivity, making them especially risky for those with sensitive skin. Even if they cleanse more thoroughly, stripping away protective sebum can lead to various skin issues.
2. Nighttime Requires Nourishing Night Cream
Leaving skin unprotected at night, combined with spring's stagnant air that weakens skin defenses, allows harmful substances to penetrate easily, leading to numerous skin issues. Between 10 PM and 2-3 AM, pores open to absorb nutrients most effectively. Using targeted night creams during this window may yield better results than daytime skincare.
3. Hydration Requires Both Water Intake and Moisturizing
Hydration directly replenishes moisture needed by the skin's stratum corneum cells, allowing water to fully integrate with dehydrated cells. This improves cellular microcirculation, leaving skin plump and supple. Moisturizing, however, merely prevents moisture loss without addressing dehydration at its root. Therefore, both hydration and moisturizing must be done simultaneously.
IV. Wash Your Face Parallel to the Ground
We often wash vertically, but this aids gravity in pulling your skin downward. Over time, this can lead to wrinkles, double chins, and other signs of aging.
The correct approach isn't to fight gravity by washing upward, but to bend forward as much as possible, keeping your face parallel to the ground. Apply cleanser in circular motions, then cup water in your hands and pat it toward the sides of your hairline to cleanse.
5. Oily Skin Needs Hydration Even More
When oily skin lacks moisture, it often overproduces oil to lock in water. So when you experience excessive oiliness, your skin isn't trying to remove oil—it's signaling a need for hydration.
Spring's unpredictable weather causes significant moisture loss, making hydration even more crucial. Oily skin still requires hydration and moisture retention in spring. Once adequately hydrated, you'll notice improved oil production.
VI. Don't chase products with high ingredient concentrations
Skin has a fixed absorption capacity for ingredients, and each component has its optimal absorption level. More ingredients don't necessarily mean better; excessive concentrations can cause skin damage and side effects. When purchasing products, don't be swayed by advertisements claiming high ingredient concentrations as superior. Pay close attention to the actual content of ingredients like acids, potent whitening agents, and essential oils.
