Among the many methods for facial slimming, injectable treatments are an effective option. While some individuals may experience mild discomfort after the procedure, such as localized swelling or warmth, these are normal reactions and should not be mistaken for side effects.
As it is a toxin, localized skin reactions may occur after injection. These primarily involve excessive weakness in the masseter muscle, resulting from the agent diffusing into adjacent muscle tissue during administration. Clinical manifestations post-treatment vary depending on the injection site and dosage used. Below are specific precautions for facial slimming injections.
Pre-injection precautions:
1. Botox is a potent toxin. Its use for medical treatments or wrinkle reduction is a medical procedure, not a service offered by commercial beauty salons. Only trained physicians should administer it; misuse or abuse is strictly prohibited. The clinic must be a nationally approved medical institution.
2. Genuine Botox is expensive due to cost controls. Unusually low prices indicate unreliability.
3. Patients should discontinue aspirin and aspirin-like medications 14 days prior to injection.
4. Avoid using cosmetics on the day of injection.
Post-injection precautions:
1. Expect mild redness and swelling at the injection site, typically subsiding within hours. Some individuals may experience slight bruising, which also resolves quickly.
2. Avoid lying down for 4 to 6 hours post-injection to prevent Botox dispersion.
3. Refrain from washing your face, applying makeup, touching the injection site, or exercising for 6 hours.
4. A professional physician will schedule a follow-up appointment one week later.
5. Do not massage the injection site to prevent toxin dispersion.
6. Avoid facial massage, heat application, or rubbing for one month post-injection.
7. Avoid hard-shelled foods; refrain from spicy foods, seafood, smoking, and alcohol for one week.
8. Early symptoms may include temporary chewing weakness or soreness.
9. Due to chewing habits, mild asymmetry may persist on both sides after injection.
10. A small number of individuals may experience limited results due to drug insensitivity; therefore, a follow-up visit is recommended after 2 weeks.
11. The effects of Botox facial slimming (facial slimming injections) are reversible. Theoretically, another injection is required after six months to maintain results.(Some individuals achieve long-lasting results after 2-3 sessions. To delay masseter muscle recovery, minimize consumption of hard or tough foods.) However, clinical observations indicate that after two to three injections, some patients no longer require maintenance injections, suggesting BOTOX provides sustained efficacy for square jaws. The reason is that during the BOTOX treatment period, the body cannot overuse the masseter muscles. If this helps break the habit of excessive muscle use, the slimmed-down masseter muscles will not thicken or regenerate after the BOTOX effect wears off. 12. Avoid staying up late for one week after injection, as heat buildup can reduce the drug's effectiveness.
