Overcoming various natural challenges to achieve good results, enhance athletic performance, and heighten the excitement of competition.We know that long-distance running performance primarily depends on an athlete's aerobic capacity and speed training level. Generally, training intensity and volume directly determine an athlete's oxygen-carrying capacity during competition, their mental fortitude, drive to push forward, and ability to maintain a fast pace. As the saying goes, "Rome wasn't built in a day." Long-term training forms the foundation for peak performance during races.Annual and weekly training volumes serve as benchmarks for monitoring physical condition. Speed endurance is crucial for maintaining a steady pace over long distances. The key lies in preventing significant deceleration throughout the race to ensure timely completion without excessive time loss due to excessive slowing. Typically, annual running volume should range between 6,000–8,000 kilometers, with weekly running volume between 80–300 kilometers.Aerobic training should constitute 55% of total mileage; mixed-energy training accounts for 5%. While endurance improvement correlates linearly with training load, this relationship has limits. When annual mileage exceeds 8,000 kilometers, further increases yield diminishing returns on energy metrics.
