How to grow taller? Height is a concern for many people today, especially women who aspire to reach their ideal height and achieve a perfect figure. Yet reality often falls short, leaving many troubled by their stature. Consequently, many are now seeking scientific methods to increase height. So, how can one grow taller? What are the secrets to height gain?
Foods That Promote Growth
Milk: Rich in nutrients, easily digestible, affordable, and convenient to consume, milk is often called "the closest thing to a perfect food" and "white blood." It's the ideal natural food, with its inherent nutritional properties unmatched by any artificial supplement.
Carrots: Carrots are a crisp, flavorful, and nutrient-rich everyday vegetable, often called "little ginseng." They are rich in carbohydrates, fats, volatile oils, carotene, vitamin A, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, anthocyanins, calcium, iron, and other nutrients.
Oranges: Citrus fruits are nutritionally rich, appealing in color, aroma, and taste. They can be consumed fresh or processed into various products, primarily orange juice. Citrus ranks first in fruit production globally, with orange juice accounting for three-quarters of all fruit juices, making it highly favored by consumers.
Spinach: Spinach contains abundant beta-carotene and iron, and is an excellent source of vitamin B6, folate, iron, and potassium. Its rich iron content helps improve iron-deficiency anemia.
Secrets to Growing Taller
1. Ensure 20–40 minutes of vertical exercise daily.
To grow taller, exercise is paramount—it's one of the keys to a child's height gain. This must start early, even in infancy, to cultivate a habit of physical activity. Choose exercises wisely: vertical movements like jumping, basketball, or high jumps are beneficial for height. Activities that extend the limbs, such as swimming, also aid growth. Weightlifting, however, does not contribute to height gain.
Exercise duration must be controlled and moderate. Parents should ensure children engage in at least 20–40 minutes of effective daily exercise, ideally until they sweat, feel warm, and develop a rosy complexion.
Height-promoting exercises include pull-ups, basketball, volleyball, jumping, skipping rope, shuttlecock kicking, and swimming.
2. Sleep in darkness with adequate rest.
Adequate sleep is crucial for children's height development. Growing children should maintain an early bedtime and wake-up routine, ensuring 8–10 hours of sleep to optimize the secretion and function of growth hormones and other hormones related to development.
Always sleep in a darkened room. Artificial light sources emit subtle light pressure. Prolonged exposure to this light pressure can cause restlessness and agitation, particularly in infants and young children, leading to difficulty falling asleep and poor sleep quality—both detrimental to bone growth.
3. A mildly hungry state may actually promote height growth.
Nutritional needs must be fully met. There are two critical growth periods for height: infancy and adolescence. Ensure balanced daily nutrition, with adequate animal protein—protein deficiency directly impacts height gain. This means at least 200ml of milk, one egg, and appropriate portions of various meats, grains, fruits, and vegetables daily. Minimize snacks and avoid sugary drinks, cream cakes, chocolate, etc., whenever possible.
Additionally, growth hormone secretion increases under mild hunger conditions, further promoting height development. Parents should avoid excessive worry about their child not eating enough, which can lead to force-feeding or constant snacking—habits that actually hinder growth and overall health.
