1. Diagnosing the presence of urinary stones: Most patients can be diagnosed based on typical symptoms like renal colic and hematuria, combined with X-ray examination.A minority present with painless hematuria, hydronephrosis, urinary tract infection, or unilateral/bilateral renal impairment, necessitating clinical vigilance and confirmatory urological imaging studies.
2. Diagnosing complications: Obstruction cannot be determined solely by stone size; imaging studies are required.To assess the degree of obstruction and renal function, IVP, BUS, and static or dynamic radionuclide scans or imaging may be employed. Instead, detailed evaluation is essential to develop individualized treatment plans.
