Though teeth aren't part of the five facial features and don't contribute to facial structure or proportions, they profoundly impact one's beauty. Imagine a woman with elegant poise yet yellow teeth—it's inconceivable. Thus, dental hygiene is paramount. So how can brushing whiten teeth?
1. First, divide teeth into six zones comprising sixteen surfaces. This zoning helps identify specific areas during brushing. The anterior teeth on one jaw form one zone, with two surfaces: labial and lingual. The posterior teeth on each side then form another zone, with three surfaces: labial, lingual, and buccal. This makes three zones per jaw, totaling eight surfaces. Combining both jaws yields six zones and sixteen surfaces. When brushing, ensure every surface is covered. The toothbrush head should not be too large, and the bristles should be soft. Fluoride toothpaste is recommended. Secondly, each brushing session must last at least three minutes, twice daily—morning and night. Finally, position the toothbrush at a 45-degree angle to the tooth surface and brush vertically along the gum line.
2. Control brushing pressure—neither too hard nor too soft. Aim for about 100 grams of force, equivalent to the light touch of the brush against your teeth. Excessive pressure irritates gums, weakens the tooth-gum attachment, and leaves food debris in hard-to-reach areas.
3. Use the vibrating brushing technique. How do you perform it?During brushing, employ a vibrating motion to ensure the tips of the bristles make good contact with the tooth surfaces. Allow the bristle tips to rotate in small circles across the tooth surfaces for cleaning. This vibrating technique prevents wear caused by long-distance brushing movements. It also enables the bristle tips to gently enter the gumline area, providing effective cleaning while massaging the gums.
4. Position the bristles against the tooth surface with the tips angled toward the crown. Gently sweep along the tooth surface toward the gumline, mimicking the friction of chewing fibrous foods.
Function: Cleans tooth surfaces and stimulates blood circulation in gum tissue. Promotes periodontal health.
Biss Brushing Technique Key Points: When cleaning the labial and lingual surfaces, position the bristles at a 45-degree angle to the tooth surface with the tips directed toward the gums. Allow the bristles to enter the gingival sulcus and interdental spaces, with some bristles pressed against the gingival margin. Perform short, back-and-forth vibrating motions.Press the bristles firmly against the surface, allowing the tips to penetrate fissures for short-distance back-and-forth vibrations.
Function: Effectively removes plaque from the cervical region and gingival sulcus, massages the gums, and prevents cervical wedge-shaped defects and gingival recession.
Key steps for the rotary brushing technique:
Step 1: Rotate the brush from the gumline toward the crown. When brushing the labial surfaces of front teeth, buccal surfaces of back teeth, and lingual/palatal surfaces of back teeth, point the bristle tips toward the gumline—upward for upper teeth, downward for lower teeth. Hold the brush at a 45° angle to the tooth surface.
Step 2: Perform small circular rotations toward the crown.
Step 3: Brush along the interdental spaces to clean all tooth surfaces. When cleaning the lingual surfaces of front teeth, place the bristle tips directly on the lingual surface—pull downward on upper teeth and lift upward on lower teeth. For cleaning the occlusal surfaces of back teeth, position the bristles on the chewing surface and brush back and forth.
5. For teeth cleaning, besides using whitening and antibacterial toothpaste, sprinkling baking soda onto your toothpaste can also help whiten teeth. However, excessive baking soda is ineffective, ideally not exceeding a 5% concentration. Baking soda tooth brushing leverages this cleaning effect rather than inherently whitening teeth. As an alkaline substance, prolonged use of alkaline agents on teeth can also produce a cleaning effect. Therefore, excessive use is not recommended.
The above outlines several tooth-whitening brushing techniques. After reviewing these methods, you should now have a comprehensive understanding of how to whiten teeth through brushing. But do these methods actually work? You won't know until you try them—consistent use is key to seeing results! We hope this information proves helpful.
