Removing Pomegranate Juice Stains from Clothes
Many people accidentally splash pomegranate juice on their clothes while peeling the fruit. Though the juice isn't very dark, stains on light-colored clothing are always noticeable. So how do you effectively remove pomegranate juice stains?
What to do when pomegranate juice stains clothes
1. For fresh stains, apply salt directly to the spot to absorb the juice. After 1 minute, dampen the fabric with water and wash with soap.
2. For dried stains, rub with vinegar, let sit for 5 minutes, then rinse with water.
3. Dissolve baking soda in water, then scrub the stain.
4. Use a collar cleaner as needed.
5. The most powerful method:
(1) For colored fabrics: Rub with concentrated saltwater → Rinse with water → Rub with 10% ammonia solution → Wash with detergent;
(2) For white fabrics, soak in bleach solution (3%-5% sodium hypochlorite) for 1-2 hours, then rinse thoroughly with clean water.
Editor's tip: Peach juice stains can be soaked in oxalic acid solution for several minutes before rinsing with water.
Laundry Tips
1. Clean, wrinkle-free shirts.
Shirt Washing Before washing, apply collar cleaner to the entire folded section of the collar. Gently scrub with a damp toothbrush to remove stains, then wash in the machine with detergent. This method also works for dirty cuffs.After the final rinse cycle, skip the spin cycle. Immediately remove the wet shirt. Use both hands to smooth out the sleeves and collar. Fold the entire collar section along the original crease line from both ends toward the center. Tuck in the collar tips to ensure symmetry. Hang the wet shirt on a hanger to drip-dry.This minimizes creases on the shirt body, prevents collar puffing and tip curling, and maintains a clean, crisp collar.the simplest method is to use detergent containing fluorescent whitening agents. These agents, essentially fluorescent dyes, dissolve in water and are absorbed by fabric fibers. They are not immediately rinsed away and convert invisible ultraviolet light into visible light.Visible light typically ranges from 400 to 800 angstroms in wavelength, while ultraviolet light spans 300 to 400 angstroms. When the fluorescent dye absorbs ultraviolet light, it converts it into violet, blue, or cyan light with wavelengths between 400 and 500 angstroms.Therefore, washing clothes with detergents containing these substances enhances the whiteness of the laundry. Since fluorescent whitening agents increase both whiteness and brightness, even colored garments appear more vibrant and eye-catching after washing due to the complementary color effect created when ultraviolet light is converted into visible light.
3. Different types of fiber garments.
Some fiber materials develop wrinkles when simply washed and air-dried, which can be removed by ironing. However, garments made from wrinkle-resistant fibers won't show noticeable creases even without ironing.
4. Delicate silk garments.
Silk garments are characterized by their softness and smoothness. They tend to float and sink in the wash water, potentially becoming entangled in the agitator at the bottom of the washing machine. This can interfere with the agitator's normal rotation and, in severe cases, cause damage.Therefore, silk garments should be placed in a slightly oversized muslin bag for washing. To enhance the lustrous shine of silk after washing, add a small amount of vinegar to the detergent solution. Use lukewarm water and a gentle cycle, avoiding prolonged washing times.
