If the mother has diabetes, the newborn must undergo two days of observation in the ICU. Maternal diabetes increases insulin secretion in the mother's body as a protective measure. However, if this insulin reaches the infant, it can cause hypoglycemia. For newborns, dangerously low blood sugar can damage brain cells.Therefore, placing a newborn from a diabetic mother with her without medical monitoring is dangerous. Tip: Maintain lactation even during mother-infant separation
