Many believe that a small penis can hinder sexual intimacy between partners. But do you know the causes of penile shortness? Here are the answers.
Six Causes of Penile Hypoplasia
1. Pathological Causes of Penile Hypoplasia
Abnormal brain tissue structure: Children with anencephaly lack hypothalamic secretion function. Even with normal pituitary gland development, the absence of gonadotropin-releasing hormone leads to low testosterone secretion, resulting in micropenis.Congenital pituitary hypoplasia, partial corpus callosum hypoplasia causing hypothalamic dysfunction, occipital encephalocele with cerebellar dysplasia, and other midline brain developmental gene abnormalities. All result in micropenis due to insufficient gonadotropin secretion. Additionally, they lead to multiple malformations in other systems.Congenital gonadotropin-releasing hormone deficiency without brain tissue abnormalities: This cause is more common than the former,The specific etiology remains unclear, often associated with syndromes such as Kallmann syndrome, Prader-Willi syndrome, and Lawrence-Moon-Biedl syndrome, frequently accompanied by multiple anomalies. Research suggests links to chromosomal and genetic abnormalities. Other causes include deficiencies in gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) due to endocrine or biochemical metabolic disorders.
2. Physiological Causes of Penile Shortness
Like other bodily organs, the size and morphological characteristics of the penis are governed and influenced by genetic factors.
3. Endocrine Disorders as a Contributing Factor
Penile shortness may result from insufficient male hormone levels, cryptorchidism, or penile "retraction" caused by scrotal swelling.
4. Inadequate intake of zinc, androgens, vitamin E, and related proteins during adolescent development, coupled with insufficient postnatal energy supplementation, fails to support sexual organ growth;
5. Internal coldness, aversion to cold, and deficiency of yang energy prevent the penis from fully protruding, causing partial retraction into the abdomen;Excessive sexual activity, physical weakness, or frequent masturbation during early adolescence may deprive the kidneys of energy needed to develop sexual organs, resulting in a short penis.
6. Conditions such as orchitis, cryptorchidism, testicular hypoplasia, and endocrine imbalances leading to testosterone deficiency.
