Nothing speaks more convincingly to a person's vitality than youthful vigor. Yet youth is fleeting, and faces once radiant with brilliance inevitably bear the marks of relentless time. However, there exists another group of people who, though not particularly old, often appear sallow, listless, and prematurely aged.So what causes poor complexion?
1. Consuming chilled carbonated beverages
The human body is 70% water. Many men prefer chilled carbonated drinks or alcohol over water to quench thirst. While flavored beverages may offer immediate comfort and taste, they harm the digestive system. Mild cases cause gastrointestinal discomfort, while severe cases can lead to chronic gastritis, resulting in a sallow, grayish complexion.
2. Prolonged exposure to air-conditioned environments
Even as autumn arrives, air conditioning remains in use. Whether passively working in office buildings or at home, prolonged exposure to air-conditioned spaces exposes you to cold drafts. This can harm your shoulders, neck, and waist over time. Additionally, stagnant indoor air fails to refresh, fostering bacterial growth on the skin and contributing to an unhealthy complexion.
It's essential to step outside periodically for fresh air and natural breezes. This not only refreshes your mind but also boosts immunity.
3. Unhealthy Lifestyle Habits
Smoking increases the risk of cardiovascular disease, lung cancer, and respiratory illnesses, and can cause men to look unhealthy. For better health, quitting smoking is best. If you can't quit immediately, eat more carrots, bell peppers, onions, garlic, spinach, and orange-colored fruits. Consume more fish and drink tea regularly to mitigate the harmful effects of smoking.
Additionally, moderately increasing the proportion of meat, vegetables, fruits, and nuts in your diet can boost libido, provide essential trace elements, and support overall health.
4. Lack of Physical Activity Modern men engage in less and less physical activity. Insufficient exercise can lead to weight gain and a sallow or pale complexion.
Men should at least walk regularly and ideally engage in frequent physical exercise, which promotes health while enhancing attractiveness. Activities like walking, jogging, or stair climbing strengthen physical fitness and overall disease resistance, burn excess energy, and maintain stable weight.
However, overly strenuous exercise and certain straddling activities—such as intense competitive sports or prolonged cycling—can be harmful and should be avoided whenever possible.
5. Cold Showers
Men often enjoy sports, and after a workout, the sticky, sweaty smell can be unpleasant. A quick cold shower provides instant cooling and refreshment. If you frequently do this, be cautious. Sudden temperature shifts give the body no time to adjust, potentially causing issues. After exercise, every pore is open. When abruptly exposed to cold, pores rapidly contract, trapping body heat and preventing its release through the skin.
Using warm water for showers not only removes sweat odor more effectively but also helps open pores for better perspiration. Crucially, it leaves skin supple and elastic.6. Consuming Greasy and Fried Foods Men generally have stronger palates, especially those who enjoy drinking. They often gravitate toward greasy and fried foods, which can easily lead to weight gain. This increases the risk of vascular diseases. Over time, the skin may not receive sufficient nutrients and moisture, resulting in an unhealthy complexion. Therefore, men should gradually adapt to eating lighter foods, opting for vegetable oils over animal fats. Incorporating garlic and fish into their diet, along with moderate red wine consumption, can help lower cholesterol levels. When angry, emotions surge dramatically: the sympathetic nervous system becomes highly stimulated, adrenaline secretion increases, heart rate accelerates, blood pressure rises, and blood circulation becomes irregular. This disrupts normal physiological functions across organs, potentially triggering gastrointestinal ulcers, hypertension, coronary heart disease, and abnormal complexion.
Men should pursue ambition, but know when to stop. Avoid excessive toil or competitiveness for money, fame, or status. Negative emotions not only invite illness but also strain family bonds.
