Jackfruit Storage Methods
Store whole with skin in the refrigerator, sealed with plastic wrap. Best consumed within 5 days. Discard any remaining after 5 days as it will ferment.Refrigeration is essential, otherwise it will spoil quickly. Additionally, the jackfruit seeds are edible! Boil them in water until cooked—they have a texture similar to sweet potatoes and are quite tasty. Boil for about 20 minutes. Since this fruit is uncommon in mainland China, many people are unsure how to prepare it. You can remove the flesh, refrigerate it, and soak it in salt water before eating for a better flavor and to reduce greasiness. This is the traditional Hainanese method.
How can you easily peel it? You'll notice a thin, hard shell covering it. If you don't boil it with salt, it will crack open when cooked, making it easy to peel. If you add salt, it's ruined—it sticks to the flesh.
How to store opened jackfruit for longer? The refrigerator plays a big role in summer. Since there are many foods in the fridge, remember to disinfect it regularly during summer to ensure hygiene.
