How to Locate the Zusanli Point

Once you locate this bone, use the pad of your thumb to push upward from the bottom. When you encounter resistance and can no longer push further, the point where your thumb rests is Zusanli.
Palpate the outer side of the lower leg from bottom to top. Below the kneecap on the right knee, you can feel a protrusion (the lateral condyle of the tibia). Moving outward and slightly downward from this point, you will find another protrusion (the head of the fibula). Connect these two bony protrusions with a line. Using this line as the base, draw an equilateral triangle downward. The apex of this triangle marks the location of Zusanli.The Zusanli point is located 3 cun below the lateral knee eye, one finger-width lateral to the anterior tibial crest, on the anterior tibial muscle. To locate it, measure 4 finger-widths down from the lateral knee eye, between the fibula and tibia. Then measure one finger-width lateral from the tibia—this is the point.
