Squid is a delicious ingredient—tasty and easy to prepare. Yet many struggle to slice it into perfect rolls. Today, we'll show you how to cut squid into rolls.
1. One plump squid
2. Slice it open lengthwise—find the center! This ensures a neat cut.
3. Keep the squid open without flipping it. Slice directly on the inside. If you cut the wrong side, the squid won't curl into beautiful flowers when cooked.
4. Slice at a 45-degree angle in straight lines, cutting through the entire squid.
5. Divide the diagonally sliced squid into three sections. Slice each section straight across in the opposite direction. The squid will now display a beautiful diamond-patterned grid.
6.After cutting all three sections, cut them into 3cm segments. 7. To ensure the shape holds well, test-cook one piece first. 8. See? A solitary wheat ear flower—isn't it utterly adorable!
Important Notes
Do not flip the squid after cutting it open; slice directly on the inside. Cutting the outer surface will prevent the curls from forming properly.
That concludes our guide on how to slice squid into curls. We hope this tutorial proves helpful. Wishing you good health and smooth sailing this winter.
