To stand out in such fierce competition, striking looks have become a significant factor. Consequently, some art school candidates opt for cosmetic surgery. Below is the full account of one art school girl's chin augmentation.
I'm 22 and studying acting at a renowned art school. Honestly, I've always been satisfied with my looks and never considered plastic surgery before. It just never seemed like something I'd do.
But one day, at a friend's gathering, I met a famous makeup artist and struck up a conversation.As we talked, she suddenly studied my face intently and remarked, "Your features are already quite perfect. After that meeting, her words lingered in my mind. Yet, caught up in my busy schedule, I never acted on them.
Then, the week before last, I accidentally injured my leg during a performance. The school granted me a week off. That’s when I thought, maybe I could use this time to do something meaningful—and decided to get chin augmentation.
Last week, I finally found a reputable hospital and a skilled surgeon. And so, I embarked on my cosmetic journey.

February 7th
Having made an appointment beforehand, I arrived at the hospital around 3 PM that afternoon. Since this hospital is very well-known in Beijing, I didn't have too many concerns.However, after reading online posts from friends warning about potential complications like facial asymmetry, I remained cautious about that aspect.
My surgeon was highly experienced, having performed chin surgeries for numerous celebrities.
At 4 PM, I entered the operating room.
Next came changing into surgical attire, taking photos (all required, strictly confidential), disinfection, and then the doctor custom-cutting the implant to fit my facial structure. Since my jaw wasn't recessed or short to begin with, a smaller implant was used. After administering anesthesia, the surgery commenced.
The procedure itself was somewhat painful, but that's to be expected with any surgery. Aside from the slight sting of the anesthesia, the process itself wasn't painful—though the fear was overwhelming.
The surgery took about half an hour—quite quick.
Afterward, the doctor secured the area with adhesive tape and smiled, telling me the surgery went exceptionally well and was a complete success. The nurse then provided post-operative instructions and dispensed medication along with mouthwash.
About an hour after arriving home that day, the anesthesia began to wear off, bringing some discomfort. Fortunately, I'm not overly sensitive to pain, so this level was manageable.
Eating was a bit tricky—my mouth couldn't open wide, so I could only have porridge and liquid foods. So ladies, if you're planning chin augmentation, remember to eat a big meal beforehand.
Sleeping required lying flat. Worried about my chin shifting if I slept on my side, I stuck to lying flat even though it was exhausting.

The day after last night's surgery.

February 9th
It doesn't hurt today.My chin feels hard. Feeling a bit anxious, so I called the doctor. He said this is normal. Then I looked in the mirror and saw my chin was completely swollen today, though not as bad as I imagined. Still not much pain when talking. Went out once and felt my chin moving while walking, which scared me into staying home. Actually, it wasn't my chin moving—just my imagination playing tricks.
February 10th
This afternoon, I removed the gauze myself. It felt strange—my jaw wasn't noticeably swollen, but my whole face seemed to have suddenly gained definition. My nose bridge felt much straighter too, which made me happy.
Then I washed my face carefully, being gentle of course.
February 11th and 12th
The swelling has subsided compared to earlier days. I stayed indoors both days, eating plenty of fruit and drinking lots of soup. Since the surgery, I've been diligently taking anti-inflammatory medication four times a day without missing a single dose. I always rinse my mouth after eating—this is crucial for maintaining oral hygiene. Infection would be disastrous.
February 13th
Got my stitches removed today. Felt a bit excited. My jawline is barely swollen now—most people wouldn't even notice I had surgery. My incision was tiny, only three stitches. Removing them didn't hurt much. Afterward, I felt instantly lighter. The doctor said my surgery went exceptionally well and my recovery is excellent. Then I looked in the mirror. Staring at my reflection. Felt so happy.Hehe...
February 14th
Speaking and smiling normally aren't too much of a problem, though I'm still not entirely used to it. But it feels much better than the past few days. The smoothness of my facial contours is gradually emerging. My boyfriend pouted and said, "Why do you have to be so pretty?"
February 15th
Went to school today.
Thankfully, none of my classmates noticed. They just said, "You look so much prettier after just a week!" and asked if I'd lost weight. My heart felt all warm and fuzzy...
Everything is slowly healing, and I firmly believe it will only get better.
