Berlusconi Assaulted in December 2009
According to media reports, Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has faced a string of misfortunes recently. On the night of the 13th, he fell while using the restroom at home, striking his chin against the wall. Suffering from jaw pain, he plans to undergo medical examination at a hospital.
Berlusconi himself stated that on the 14th, he still felt pain in his jaw and planned to go to the hospital for examination, possibly including an X-ray to determine if any damage had been caused.
Reports indicate that the 74-year-old Berlusconi, notorious for his womanizing ways and embroiled in numerous lawsuits, has recently been compelled to appear in court on suspicion of having relations with underage prostitutes.
In late 2009, while attending a rally in Milan, Berlusconi was struck in the face by a metal model of Milan Cathedral wielded by a man, fracturing his nasal bone and loosening two teeth. Rumors later surfaced that he underwent reconstructive surgery.
In March this year, his personal physician, Alberto Sanguinello, confirmed in a statement that Berlusconi had indeed undergone jaw and facial bone graft surgery to repair injuries sustained in the attack.
