Many people today experience digestive issues due to high-stress work and irregular eating habits, which can lead to acute gastritis and eventually chronic stomach problems. We previously discussed how to manage poor digestion. Those with sensitive stomachs should focus on daily care. So, what foods are beneficial for sensitive stomachs? And what should be avoided?
I. Increase Dietary Fiber Intake
Vegetables, fruits, brown rice, and oatmeal are excellent fiber sources. Those with thin digestive tract mucosa or ulcers should opt for foods with finer fibers and higher soluble fiber content, such as certain grains or vegetables. Additionally, incorporate stomach-strengthening foods like yogurt, burdock root, papaya, and wood ear mushrooms.Papaya, for instance, is known for its ability to strengthen the spleen and aid digestion. 2. Avoid Acidic, Cold, and Hard Foods Those with sensitive stomachs should limit acidic fruits like apples and pears. Instead, opt for bananas and kiwis. Moderate consumption of honey (such as cauliflower honey, chrysanthemum honey, or huaihua honey) is also beneficial.Avoid tobacco, alcohol, cold and hard foods, and sticky, high-viscosity foods like glutinous rice, as they easily cause indigestion. Drink a cup of warm milk or soy milk in the morning and evening; dietary therapy yields more lasting results.
III. Prioritize Nutrient-Dense, Soft-Textured, Easily Digestible Balanced Meals
Select balanced meal plans rich in nutrients and featuring soft, easily digestible foods like milk, eggs, soy milk, fish, and lean meats. Prepare these through cooking methods that render them tender and gentle on the digestive tract. Ensure adequate intake of calories, protein, and vitamins.Simultaneously, incorporate foods rich in B vitamins, vitamin A, and vitamin C. Prioritize wheat-based staples. Feel free to consume more of any foods known to nourish the stomach.
IV. Avoid Foods with Excessive Mechanical or Chemical Irritation
Mechanical irritants increase mucosal damage and disrupt the gastric mucosal barrier, such as coarse grains, celery, leeks, preserved vegetables, bamboo shoots, and dried fruits. Chemical irritants increase gastric acid secretion and stimulate the gastric mucosa, such as coffee, strong tea, spirits, and concentrated meat broths.
V. Eat smaller, more frequent meals
Maintain regular meal times with moderate portions, avoiding overeating. If possible, opt for 5-7 smaller meals daily.
VI. Cooking methods
Prefer steaming, boiling, blanching, braising, stewing, or simmering. Avoid frying, deep-frying, stir-frying, vinegar-tossing, or cold-mixing.
VII. Maintain a Positive Mindset
Eat with a relaxed state of mind, chewing thoroughly and slowly to aid digestion. Prepare palatable meals according to personal dietary preferences, focusing on soft, easily chewable foods low in coarse fiber.
