Three Bacteria That Cause Baby Diarrhea
1. Diarrhea caused by pathogenic E. coli: Symptoms develop gradually, starting mildly and worsening over time. Babies may experience vomiting, dehydration, and low-grade fever. Stools have a fishy odor and are often watery or mucous-like.
2. Diarrhea caused by Staphylococcus aureus is often triggered by prolonged antibiotic use leading to gastrointestinal flora imbalance.Key characteristics include varying degrees of fever, vomiting, and diarrhea. Initially, stools appear yellowish-green. After several days, they develop a fishy odor and darken to a greenish hue, becoming watery with increased frequency—sometimes exceeding ten times daily. Severe dehydration may occur.
3. Diarrhea caused by fungi commonly occurs in infants with weakened immunity or malnutrition. Stools appear 3-4 times daily as yellow watery discharge, sometimes resembling curdled milk, greenish in color, frothy, and containing mucus.
