While liposuction is widely recognized for its effective body contouring and slimming results, its impact on waist and abdominal fat reduction is equally significant. However, while many focus solely on the surgical outcomes, post-operative care is equally crucial. In fact, patients undergoing abdominal liposuction must adhere to several important post-operative guidelines.
To maximize the slimming effects of abdominal liposuction, observe the following post-operative guidelines:
1. Wear loose-fitting clothing rather than tight garments for greater comfort.
2. Patients undergoing surgery in spring, autumn, or winter can effectively conceal the procedure with layered clothing.
3. Women planning pregnancy should wait at least 6 months to 1 year after surgery.
4. Local cold compresses can alleviate pain; placing a soft pillow under the area may enhance comfort.
5. Prepare post-operative supplies beforehand: compression abdominal belt, elastic garments, toilet paper, band-aids, etc.
6. Patients experiencing abdominal liposuction pain may take 1–2 tablets of acetaminophen. Within the first 3 days post-op, patients may take prescribed antibiotics or follow doctor-recommended treatment protocols.
7. Patients may shower after removing dressings.Patients who underwent small-area liposuction with syringes may bathe 2–3 days post-op. After bathing, re-disinfect the needle puncture sites and reapply fresh bandages. Patients who underwent large-area liposuction should wait 4–5 days before bathing. Similarly, re-disinfect and rebandage incision sites after bathing. Avoid rubbing the liposuction areas during bathing.
