Will Eye Bag Removal Cause a Rebound Effect?

Many patients remain satisfied with their eye bag removal results yet harbor lingering doubts: Will the bags return? How long before they grow large enough to require another procedure? In fact, many prospective patients share these concerns. To address these uncertainties, we clarify the following points.
1. The rate at which eye bags enlarge is unaffected by removal surgery. In other words, if your eye bags grew rapidly before surgery, they will likely enlarge to a significant degree again after some time. Conversely, if your eye bags grew very slowly before surgery, they may remain relatively flat for many years afterward.
Does this mean individuals with rapidly growing eye bags are unsuitable for this procedure?Quite the opposite. For such patients, avoiding eye bag removal surgery will only allow the bags to grow larger with age. Provided there are no complications, undergoing the procedure every three to five years is perfectly acceptable. Since conjunctival eye bag removal carries no risk of scar tissue hardening, there is no lifetime limit on the number of surgeries one can undergo.
2. Transconjunctival surgery does not cause periorbital fat pad laxity. Traditional eyelid fat removal involves incisions through the eyelid skin, periorbital fat pad, and muscle to extract fat. If not properly repaired, this can lead to laxity of the periorbital fat pad, causing the fat to bulge out again shortly after surgery, appearing as if it has quickly regrown.Conjunctival surgery avoids damaging the muscle membrane or muscle tissue. Since the incision is made on the inner side of the muscle membrane, the healing process actually promotes its strengthening. This is why, after conjunctival fat removal, the eyelid becomes more elastic and wrinkles diminish within three months.
Now you understand whether eye bag correction can rebound. Experts confirm that eye bag correction does not rebound post-surgery. However, aging is inevitable as we reach a certain age. While we remove eye bags, we cannot halt the natural progression of aging.
