Four major issues to watch out for after orthodontic treatment

Generally, adult orthodontic treatment poses no significant issues. By selecting a suitable method, following the dentist's instructions, and maintaining proper daily oral care, you can achieve beautifully aligned teeth. However, choosing an unqualified practitioner may lead to the following problems:
1.Tooth Loosening: Tooth loosening is a relatively common issue during orthodontic treatment. This occurs because teeth are anchored in the alveolar bone by the periodontal ligament. As teeth move during correction, temporary loosening is inevitable. However, once teeth reach their final position and movement ceases, this loosening resolves.
2. Root damage: During treatment, the tooth roots undergo resorption and regeneration. While roots typically recover through natural repair mechanisms post-treatment, improper clinical techniques or inadequate oral hygiene can increase the risk of root resorption, causing irreversible damage.
3. Pulpal inflammation: During the initial stages of orthodontic treatment, patients may experience temporary inflammation, primarily manifesting as tooth pain or discomfort. Maintaining good oral hygiene practices can help alleviate and improve these symptoms.
4. Alveolar Bone Height Reduction: During orthodontic treatment, maintaining oral hygiene becomes challenging, increasing susceptibility to gingivitis and reducing alveolar bone height. After treatment completion, alveolar bone resorption generally ceases. With good oral hygiene, the alveolar bone will gradually return to normal.
