Parents with young children know cod is exceptionally nutritious for babies, especially when they're small and prone to digestive issues with many foods. Attentive caregivers will notice cod contains abundant nutrients yet has only one bone, making it ideal for infants. How can you prepare cod to make it more appealing to babies? Here's a recipe to stimulate their appetite.
1. Ingredients
One piece of cod fillet
Green vegetables, cut into sections and washed clean
Shiitake mushrooms and wood ear fungus, washed in warm water, cut into sections, and set aside
One bowl of water mixed with starch, stirred well, plus one egg
Salt, cooking oil
2. Cooking Method
1.First, prepare a piece of cod fillet. Separate the fish meat from the bones and set aside.
2. Pour a bowl of water, add starch to taste, mix well, then coat the fish meat evenly.
3. For added nutrition, incorporate one egg into the mixture.
4.Heat a pan over medium heat, add a moderate amount of rapeseed oil, and heat until it reaches about 60°C (140°F). Shape the fish mixture into patties.
5. Fry the fish patties in the hot oil until golden brown, then remove from the pan.
3. Cooking Tips
When mixing the starch, avoid adding too much water at once. Excess water will prevent the patties from holding their shape.
Carefully control the heat—too long will burn them, too short leaves them undercooked, and neither is suitable for babies.
When mixing, always stir clockwise.
Cod cakes are ready to eat immediately after frying. If your baby's teeth aren't fully developed, you can also simmer the cakes in broth to make a delicious fish cake soup.
