Causes of Neonatal Nasal Congestion
1. Immature Immune System
Newborns have underdeveloped immune systems and poor resistance as their bodies adjust to the external environment. Failure to maintain proper warmth can easily lead to colds and other illnesses.
2. Physiological Structure Factors
The maxillary bone and cranial bones of newborns are underdeveloped. Their noses and nasal passages are relatively short, nasal hairs are sparse, and the nasal mucosa is tender. Compared to adults, the nasal cavity contains more abundant blood vessels and lymphatic tissue.
