Recently, a cosmetic surgery center treated a woman whose nose was nearly ruined after a botched rhinoplasty injection.
A month ago, Harbin resident Ms. Li decided to get a nose job to welcome the new year. She paid 400 yuan at a beauty salon for a "hyaluronic acid" injection rhinoplasty. However, post-injection symptoms like redness, swelling, and pain emerged. After several days of anti-inflammatory medication, the swelling worsened, and the injection site eventually ulcerated and began oozing pus. Ms. Li sought hospital treatment. Though emergency surgery alleviated her condition, her nose suffered severe structural damage.
Experts explained that Ms. Li had previously undergone two injections at the same salon. Since individual beauty salons lack medical aesthetics qualifications and are unqualified to perform cosmetic procedures, their illegal use of "Omedin" injections poses serious risks. These include bleeding, hard lumps, infections, pain, displacement, and even skin necrosis, leading to severe complications like disfigurement.
Doctors emphasized that even emerging "micro-cosmetic" procedures like injectable rhinoplasty must be performed in sterile environments. They advised the public to thoroughly discuss potential complications with physicians before opting for non-surgical cosmetic treatments. Selecting licensed hospitals and experienced practitioners remains essential for ensuring the safety and efficacy of micro-cosmetic procedures.
