Soup Commentary: "Nourishing the liver in spring" is a time-honored principle of seasonal wellness. Thus, spring is the ideal season to focus on liver health.
Chrysanthemum flowers possess a slightly cold nature with pungent, sweet, and bitter flavors. They disperse wind-heat, clear liver heat to improve vision, and subdue liver yang. They are effective for red, swollen, painful eyes caused by wind-heat in the liver meridian or liver fire rising, as well as headaches and dizziness due to excessive liver yang. White chrysanthemum flowers are primarily used for calming the liver and improving vision.Goji berries, with their sweet and neutral properties, nourish the liver and kidneys, brighten the eyes, and moisten the lungs. They effectively treat dizziness, weakness in the lower back and knees, and declining vision caused by liver-kidney deficiency. Pork liver is rich in vitamin A, iron, zinc, and other elements that improve anemia and enhance vision. When combined into a soup, these three ingredients complement each other perfectly.
