Different people have different scents, just as different romances hold different memories. So perfume isn't merely perfume—it also embodies a woman's love. That bottle of colored or clear liquid, that faintly mysterious fragrance blending sweetness, melancholy, wildness, decadence, and elegance—indistinguishable yet felt with the heart; like sensing one's own love... So how should a woman choose perfume?
Below are some methods to assess perfume quality. Primarily, examine its color, scent, and packaging.
1. Premium perfume must be clear, transparent, and highly lucid with no sediment. Typically free of dyes, it remains color-stable at 30°C for 24 hours.
2. The fragrance of a quality perfume is pure and lasts for a considerable period. It should be free of pungent alcohol odors or other unpleasant smells.
3. While perfumes appeal to a woman's sense of smell, their promotion often relies on the visual appeal of the product packaging. Like other goods, the finer details of the packaging often reflect the inherent quality of the product. When assessing perfume quality, pay special attention to the bottle's seal. The opening and cap must fit tightly without gaps, otherwise alcohol may evaporate and dry out. Additionally, check if the packaging is neat, the patterns are clear, and the bottle exterior has no cracks or defects. For bottles with spray nozzles, also verify that the nozzle operates smoothly and does not leak.
4. Purchase from authorized counters and verify that all relevant information on the packaging is complete. Since regulations requiring cosmetic ingredient labeling on outer packaging took effect this year, many major perfume brands now include ingredient lists. Be sure to check this when making a purchase.
How to Use Perfume Correctly
Only by applying perfume correctly can you maximize its effect while minimizing cost, avoiding the regret of splurging on expensive fragrances for safety's sake.
1. Apply perfume in "dots" for pure perfume, "lines" for perfume, and "areas" for eau de toilette. The lower the concentration, the broader the application area.
2. The Seven-Point Method: First, spray perfume onto the pulse points of both wrists. Gently touch these pulse points with your middle and ring fingers. Next, lightly touch the back of both ears and the nape of the neck. Tuck your hair back and linger slightly at the ends. Touch the inner elbows with the wrists.Use a spray bottle to mist perfume on both sides of the waist. Lightly touch the sprayed areas with fingers from opposite hands. Then, with perfume-doused fingers, lightly touch the inner thighs, inner knees of both legs, and inner ankles. This completes the seven-point application method. Note: All light touches during application should avoid friction, as friction may cause chemical reactions in the perfume's organic compounds, potentially altering its original scent.
3. Spraying Method: Before dressing, hold the sprayer about 10-20 cm from your body and mist perfume over a wide area. Stand within the mist for 5 minutes; or spray perfume widely into the air and slowly walk through the mist. Both methods allow perfume to settle evenly on your body, leaving a subtle, fresh scent.
4. Apply Eau de Parfum via dabbing or light spraying on pulse points: behind the ears, inner wrists, and behind the knees. Apply Eau de Parfum by dabbing or spraying on pulse points, avoiding the chest and shoulder blades.
Perfume, cologne, or eau de toilette contain lower concentrations of essential oils and won't damage fabric fibers, allowing for more versatile application. Examples include pulse points, clothing linings, hair, or spraying into the air.
5. Areas with higher body temperature yield better results when applying perfume. Generally, the inner body surfaces are warmer than the outer ones. Additionally, since fragrance rises, applying perfume to the lower body is more effective than applying it to the upper body.
7. Perfume can be sprayed on clean, freshly washed hair. Dirt or oil on hair can alter the fragrance. Avoid spraying on dry or fragile hair to prevent damage.
8. Fragrances contain organic compounds that can react with gold, silver, and pearls, causing discoloration and damage. Therefore, never spray perfume directly onto jewelry. Apply perfume first, then put on your accessories.
9. Cotton and silk fabrics easily retain perfume residue. Never spray perfume on fur or leather, as it can damage the material and alter its color.
10. Perfume applied to wool or nylon fabrics is less likely to leave stains. However, the scent lingers longer on pure wool materials.
Ultimately, cosmetics enhance our beauty on the foundation of health. Without health, beauty is meaningless. May such incidents never occur again.
