Phobia is a neurotic disorder primarily characterized by fear symptoms. Patients experience intense and unnecessary fear toward specific objects, accompanied by avoidance behaviors. Though aware that this fear is excessive, unwarranted, and irrational, this recognition fails to prevent panic attacks. Fear objects may be singular or multiple, such as animals, open spaces, enclosed rooms, heights, or social activities. Patients recognize their reactions as unreasonable yet struggle to control them, leading to recurrent episodes.Onset is most common during adolescence and old age, with a higher prevalence among women.
