Reports indicate that most white-collar workers lead busy lives, juggling career and family responsibilities. Over half of respondents engage in less than three hours of physical exercise weekly, with a small minority having no time for exercise at all. A staggering 70% complain about high work pressure. Experts advise white-collar workers to learn to savor life, recognizing that work is only one part of it.
Real-Life Case
Ms. Zhang, in her 30s, is an office worker with a demanding job. Recently, frequent business trips have added to her stress. After a company-organized physical exam, she was startled by her results: an electrocardiogram indicated "myocardial strain"!Other readings like blood pressure, lipids, and blood sugar were normal. She anxiously asked the doctor, "Could this be a precursor to heart disease?"
What is Myocardial Strain?
Myocardial strain refers to prolonged overwork of the heart muscle under high stress, such as from obesity, hypertension, intense work pressure, or significant mental strain. This leads to myocardial damage, which may involve ischemia (reduced blood supply) or normal blood flow.If myocardial ischemia is confirmed, long-term progression may lead to coronary heart disease, myocardial infarction, dilated cardiomyopathy, cardiac dysfunction, or heart failure.
