That protruding belly fat, making you look like you're pregnant, is something many women despise. Today, we recommend five-minute yoga poses to slim your waist and abdomen, teaching you how to shed belly fat and gradually eliminate that little belly, restoring a flat stomach.
I. Upper Abdominal Exercises
1. Crunches with Clap
Lie flat on your back with legs raised at a 90-degree angle, thighs perpendicular to the floor. Keep your lower back pressed firmly against the ground. Extend arms straight alongside your legs. Engage your core and rhythmically clap your hands on the floor while swinging arms up and down. Perform 30 repetitions per set.
Note: Keep your neck relaxed and avoid lifting your back or waist off the floor. To increase difficulty, straighten your legs.
2. Yoga Cannonball Pose
Lie on your back. Lift your upper body, wrap both arms around your left knee, and pull your leg toward your body until your nose approaches your knee. Lift your right leg slightly off the ground and hold for 10 seconds. Switch legs and hold for another 10 seconds. Repeat 10 times per set.
Note: Do not hold your breath during the movement. The abdominal compression helps expel gas and massages your internal organs.
3. Cobra Pose
Lie prone with legs shoulder-width apart. Place hands on the floor in front of you, elbows tucked close to your sides. Lift your chest and head, slowly pushing your upper body upward as far as comfortably possible. Keep arms slightly bent, feeling the abdominal muscles lengthen and stretch. Hold for 10 seconds, then slowly relax.
II. Lower Abdominal Exercises
1. Leg Lifts
Lie on your back with hands under your hips. Raise both legs straight up perpendicular to the floor, keeping your core stable. Slowly lower legs to a 45-degree angle, then slowly lift them back up. This completes one repetition. Perform 10 to 15 repetitions per set.
Note: Keep your lower back stationary throughout the movement.
2. Boat Pose
Sit on the floor with legs together, lifted at a 45-degree angle. Extend arms forward at shoulder height. Hold for 20 seconds before lowering legs. Perform 10 repetitions.
Note: Lift legs slowly to engage deeper lower abdominal muscles.
3. Air Bicycle
Lie on your back with arms at your sides. Keep your lower back stable and lift your legs to pedal in the air. Perform 15 forward and 15 backward repetitions per set.
Note: Control the pace—slower movements yield better results. Aim for the largest possible circles with your feet.
III. Oblique Exercises
1.Supine Side Twist
Lie on your back with arms extended, hands behind your head. Bend both knees to 90 degrees, thighs perpendicular to the floor. Simultaneously twist both legs to the left as far as possible, then twist to the right. This completes one repetition. Perform 12 to 15 repetitions per set.
Note: Keep knees pressed together as much as possible, maintaining a 90-degree bend in the knees throughout.Exhale as you lift your legs, inhale as you lower them.
2. Side Plank
Lie on your side with your right arm bent, elbow on the mat. Keep your elbow, hip, and foot in a straight line. Slowly lift your hips off the ground, supported only by your elbow and foot. Hold for at least 30 seconds based on your ability. Repeat on the other side.
Note: Maintain steady breathing throughout the movement, lifting the hips as high as possible.
3. Push-Up Side Leg Tuck
Assume a standard push-up position with feet hip-width apart. Bend your right knee and reach forward toward your right elbow. Return to start, then switch to the left leg for one repetition. Perform 8-10 reps per set.
Note: Maximize contraction of your oblique muscles when your knee touches your elbow. Strive to complete the movement fully.
That concludes our introduction to several yoga methods for reducing belly fat. We hope this guide proves helpful. Wishing you good health and smooth sailing this winter.
