Every summer, you're eager to slather sunscreen on every inch of your body to protect the fair skin you worked all winter to achieve. Yet, certain areas inevitably darken unexpectedly, sometimes even developing unsightly tan lines! Think about those faint sandal marks on the tops of your feet, the distinct tan lines around your neckline, or the back of your neck—doesn't it look significantly darker than your back? Oh my goodness, it's time to rescue them!
1. Top of Feet & Back of Knees
Those beloved Roman sandals of summer? They also specialize in leaving zebra-striped tan lines on the tops of your feet! Before heading out, carefully apply sunscreen to the tops of your feet. Wait 5 minutes for absorption before putting on shoes. Knees and the backs of knees are also easily overlooked blind spots. When applying sunscreen, be sure to use sufficient amounts. When wearing capri or cropped pants, always apply sunscreen inside the pant legs above the exposed calf area. Be careful not to let your fair, beautiful legs lose their luster!
2.Fingers
Glamorous skin isn't just about your face—your hands reveal the truth! To keep hands soft and fair, layer on extra sunscreen before heading out, in addition to your regular hand cream.Hand sunscreens don't need to be lightweight; products with some oil content actually offer better nourishment for the skin. Besides hands, elbows are also prone to darkening. Joints that move frequently wear off sunscreen fastest, so always carry a sunscreen spray for touch-ups.
3. Chest and Back of Neck
The stark color difference between your face and neck isn't genetic—it's because you neglect your neck!Apply your daily brightening serum equally to both areas, and never skip sun protection before going out. If you use a tinted sunscreen on your face, make sure your neck gets a separate bottle of lightweight, oil-free, high-SPF sunscreen. Since the neck sweats more and is more sensitive than the face, choose a lighter formula to prevent sweat from washing it off and reducing its effectiveness.Furthermore, ensure the skin at the back of your neck receives ample sun protection (unless you wear your hair down year-round). Apply sunscreen to the inner side of your upper body where clothing exposes skin to prevent unsightly tan lines.
