Seven Nuts Ideal for Babies
Moms, pay close attention to what follows! We'll introduce seven nuts best suited for boosting your baby's brain development. While nuts offer excellent nutrition, be mindful of portion sizes when feeding them to your child. Monitor your baby's reaction after eating to determine if they can continue consuming these nuts.
Chestnuts
Chestnuts have the lowest fat content and highest starch content among nuts. Fresh chestnuts contain more vitamin C than tomatoes or apples. Their rich unsaturated fatty acids and phosphorus support your baby's brain development.
Note for moms: Chestnuts are suitable for babies over 2 years old.Due to their high starch and carbohydrate content, chestnuts can cause a feeling of fullness. Limit your baby's intake to no more than 6 chestnuts per day. Pine Nuts Pine nuts contain significant amounts of fat, primarily composed of unsaturated fatty acids like alpha-linolenic acid and linoleic acid. These are essential for your baby's brain cell development and can also boost their immunity when consumed regularly.
Mom's Note: Pine nuts have a high oil content and should not be consumed in large quantities daily. Limit intake to no more than 30 nuts per day. The best way to serve them is roasted in their shells.
Peanuts
Peanuts are rich in high-quality protein and lipids, particularly linoleic acid, which supports your child's nervous system development and memory enhancement.
Mom's Note: Limit peanuts to no more than 10 per day for babies. For young children, boiling peanuts best preserves their vitamins and minerals. However, peanuts can cause allergies. Exercise caution if there's a family history of allergies or if your child has a predisposition to allergies.
Hazelnuts
Hazelnuts contain 36% vitamin E, making them excellent for skin care and boosting babies' immunity. Notably, they contain all eight essential amino acids—rare among nuts—and are rich in beta-carotene, which supports eye development and protects cardiovascular health.
Moms should note: While hazelnuts sound incredibly nutritious, their high fat content requires caution for babies with poor bile duct function. Limit intake to no more than 20 hazelnuts per day.
Walnuts
When you look at walnut kernels, you can't help but notice their resemblance to the human brain. Walnuts truly embody the concept of "like nourishes like." They are crucial for the development of a baby's brain tissue, especially during periods of rapid growth and development.
Moms should note: Walnuts are very high in fat, so babies with weak digestive systems should not eat too many. Walnuts contain tannic acid, which can bind with calcium, iron, and other nutrients to form insoluble compounds. Therefore, avoid eating walnuts alongside foods rich in these nutrients. For babies, it's best to limit walnut consumption to no more than one per day.
Sunflower Seeds
Sunflower seeds are rich in unsaturated fatty acids, high-quality protein, potassium, phosphorus, calcium, magnesium, selenium, vitamin E, and B vitamins. Regular consumption can help boost babies' immunity.
