Babies' skin is exceptionally delicate and smooth. Eczema can affect their skin and potentially leave scars. Next, let's explore how to properly care for infant eczema.
Can infant eczema leave scars?
After a baby develops eczema, proper skin care is crucial. If the skin becomes infected with bacteria and damages the dermis, it can easily leave unsightly pigmentation or scars.
It may even lead to sepsis or septicemia. It's best to cover rashes prone to friction with clean gauze to prevent irritation. Keep your baby's nails trimmed short to avoid scratching the skin and causing infection.
Ensure isolation from other patients with purulent skin conditions to prevent cross-infection.
Care Methods for Infant Eczema
1. Avoid using soap when bathing the child
When bathing a baby with eczema, avoid using soap whenever possible. Keep the infant's body dry after bathing. If eczema is severe on the body or limbs, temporarily avoid baths. Apply medication immediately after washing.
2. Dress your baby in soft, pure cotton clothing
After bathing, avoid synthetic fabrics. Opt for soft, pure cotton garments. Maintain rigorous hygiene by frequently changing and washing the baby's clothes. Additionally, wash the baby's small pillow regularly, as perspiration can accumulate on it.
3. Maintain moderate indoor temperatures
During eczema flare-ups, avoid overly warm indoor environments, as excessive heat can intensify itching and worsen symptoms. Ensure the living space remains well-ventilated, dry, clean, and at a comfortable temperature. Dress the baby lightly to prevent sweating, which can irritate eczema.
4. Minimize sun exposure for babies with eczema
Even in cooler weather, avoid excessive sun exposure. Clothing and bedding should not be overly thick to prevent sweat irritation. Opt for loose-fitting cotton garments; avoid wool, blankets, or synthetic fabrics touching the skin. Frequently wash and change the baby's clothes, diapers, and pillowcases, ensuring detergent is thoroughly rinsed away.
Folk Remedies for Eczema
For skin eczema, stir-fry mung beans in a pan until crisp, then grind into powder. Mix the powder with white vinegar and apply to affected areas. Apply twice daily for one week to achieve complete healing. Avoid consuming Sichuan pepper or black pepper during treatment to prevent interference with the remedy's efficacy.
Prepare red dates and mung beans in a 1:3 ratio. Simmer them into a porridge, adding a small amount of rock sugar before consumption. Enjoy this as a daily snack—it not only treats eczema but also promotes overall health.
Place one camphor ball in a bowl, pour in 250g of aged vinegar, seal tightly, and let steep for three days. Apply the vinegar to affected areas three times daily until healed. This method yields excellent results.
