Technique 1: Tonify Lung Metal, Tonify Spleen Earth
The Lung Metal point is located on the spiral surface of the distal phalanx of the ring finger. The practitioner rotates their thumb over this point approximately 100–300 times. This method tonifies lung qi, suitable for deficiency-type coughing, wheezing, spontaneous sweating, and night sweats. It is often combined with tonifying Spleen Earth (on the spiral surface of the thumb).
Technique 2: Rotating the Inner Eight Trigrams
The Inner Eight Trigrams point is located on the palm surface. Using the palm center as the hub, perform circular movements with a radius of two-thirds the distance from the hub to the transverse crease at the base of the middle finger. The practitioner uses the thumb to push clockwise approximately 100–500 times. This method broadens the chest, regulates qi, stops coughing, transforms phlegm, and promotes digestion. It is suitable for conditions such as phlegm-induced wheezing and coughing, and milk/food injury.
Technique Three: Rubbing Zhongwan
The Zhongwan point is located 4 cun above the umbilicus on the anterior midline. During the procedure, the child lies supine while the practitioner rubs this point with the heel of the palm approximately 100–200 times. This method strengthens the spleen, harmonizes the stomach, aids digestion, and regulates the middle jiao. It is suitable for conditions such as excessive phlegm, hiccups, abdominal distension, and abdominal pain caused by spleen-stomach dysfunction.
Technique 4: Rubbing the Shangyu Point
The Shangyu point is located 0.2 cun lateral to the nipple. During the procedure, the child lies supine while the practitioner uses the thumb's spiral surface or the palm's base to rub both sides of this point 30–50 times. This method broadens the chest, regulates qi, stops coughing, and dissolves phlegm. It is suitable for treating chest tightness, coughing, wheezing, and vomiting.
Daily Care Guidelines
First, regarding diet: prioritize light, mild, and easily digestible foods. Avoid spicy, raw, cold, and greasy items. Second, maintain appropriate temperature and humidity levels; open windows regularly for ventilation; adjust clothing as needed—neither overbundle nor allow exposure to cold.
