Many parents believe egg yolks are a nutritious food, rich in protein, zinc, and iron. This is a misconception, though it stems from past economic conditions when eggs were considered the best nutritional source, leading to a focus on yolks.
We now recommend pure rice cereal as the first complementary food. This is because pure rice cereal carries the lowest risk of causing allergies in infants and is easier to digest and absorb compared to egg yolks. For children prone to allergies, egg yolks can even be introduced later, around six or seven months.
