Eyebrows can transform one's aura and appearance.However, some individuals suffer severe facial injuries from accidents or other misfortunes, resulting in eyebrow loss. This does not mean there is no remedy. Eyebrow reconstruction can restore missing eyebrows, ensuring our appearance remains vibrant despite their absence. Eyebrow tattooing is a cosmetic surgical technique that involves penetrating the skin with needles to deposit metallic or plant-based pigments into the dermal layer, permanently shaping the eyebrows.
Contraindications for Eyebrow Tattooing:
1. Individuals with infections such as boils or folliculitis on the face or eyebrow area;
2. Those with eyebrow lesions including hemangiomas, sebaceous cysts, or seborrheic dermatitis;
3. Individuals with keloid-prone skin;
4. Those with mental or neurological disorders, or unrealistic/excessive expectations regarding post-procedure results;
5. Individuals allergic to permanent makeup pigments.
6. Patients with blood disorders such as hemophilia or thrombocytopenia.
7. Individuals with infectious diseases like hepatitis B should avoid eyebrow tattooing to prevent cross-infection.
8. Congenital or acquired ptosis (drooping eyelid) is a contraindication, as the affected eyebrow often sits higher than the unaffected side. This creates significant design challenges, frequently leading to unsatisfactory results.
Post-procedure care for eyebrow tattooing:
1. Apply cold compresses to reddened or swollen areas to reduce swelling. Place ice cubes in an ice pack, wrap it in a sterile towel, and apply for 20-30 minutes. Never place ice packs or ice directly on the wound to prevent infection from ice water seeping into the injury.
2. Apply topical anti-inflammatory medication (e.g., Lip Balm, Aloe Vera Gel) to the wound to prevent infection, three times daily for three consecutive days;
3. For severe redness and swelling, oral anti-inflammatory medication may be taken (typically recommended for individuals with significant post-procedure swelling after double eyelid surgery);
4. Keep the treated area clean and dry for three days post-procedure; avoid contact with water;
5. After scabbing forms, avoid exposure to hot water or steam to prevent softening or detachment of scabs, which may affect color retention.
