During a hot bath, the skin undergoes immediate and extensive vasodilation. If sexual activity occurs during bathing or immediately afterward, the body must divert substantial blood flow to the sexual organs. For instance, during male erection, the corpus cavernosum requires 20–25 times more blood than in a flaccid state. However, with significant blood pooling in the skin at this moment, this allocation conflict can lead to diminished performance.

Increased risk of infertility
