Current painless delivery methods include the following approaches:
(1) Psychological Painless Delivery Method. Educating the mother and family about pregnancy and childbirth helps them understand the contractions and pain during labor, instilling confidence in the safety of delivery. This alleviates fear and anxiety, promotes strong uterine contractions during labor, and facilitates smooth progress of labor.Guiding the mother to perform slow, deep breathing exercises as contractions intensify helps reduce the sensation of pain during contractions. Having family members accompany the mother during labor and delivery is currently encouraged. Having loved ones present during moments of distress provides immense comfort and enhances the mother's tolerance for pain.
(2) Pharmacological analgesia can achieve sedation, promote sleep, and reduce fear and anxiety. Commonly used drugs in clinical practice include diazepam and pethidine. However, these should not be administered in large quantities, especially within 3–4 hours before the fetus is about to be delivered, to avoid affecting contractions and suppressing the newborn's breathing.
(3) Use of labor analgesia devices. When regular contractions begin, employing labor analgesia devices yields favorable clinical outcomes.
(4) Other approaches. Strengthening muscles, ligaments, and joints during pregnancy; practicing mental relaxation and visualization techniques; maintaining a supportive birthing environment; and water immersion during labor can all help alleviate pain.
