Is Hyaluronidase the Antidote to Minimally Invasive Cosmetic Procedures?

Hyaluronidase, the enzyme that dissolves hyaluronic acid, reduces its activity in the body, thereby enhancing tissue fluid permeability. It's often seen as the antidote to minor cosmetic procedures, as if all issues arising from hyaluronic acid injections could be resolved by injecting hyaluronidase. But is this truly the case?
Hyaluronidase sources vary widely, including microbial fermentation, animal tissue extraction, or genetic recombination.Different hyaluronidases require varying doses to dissolve hyaluronic acid, and different types of hyaluronic acid react differently to the same enzyme. Therefore, precise dosage control is crucial when administering hyaluronidase. If unqualified practitioners made mistakes during the initial hyaluronic acid injection, it seems unlikely they could accurately control the hyaluronidase dosage either.
Even if hyaluronidase dosage is controlled, once injected hyaluronic acid disperses into various skin tissues, the enzyme cannot fully penetrate the entire injected area.
Similarly, when hyaluronidase is injected, it cannot be precisely targeted into the same blood vessel, and thus cannot dissolve hyaluronic acid uniformly through the circulatory system.Therefore, while it can dissolve hyaluronic acid, it cannot dissolve it completely, and it certainly cannot resolve severe complications.
Furthermore, hyaluronidase is a protein, and all protein-based injectables carry a risk of allergic reactions. Therefore, a skin test should be performed before injection. Hyaluronidase should not be used in cases of local tissue infection, as it could cause the infection to spread.
