What are the currently popular buttock cosmetic procedures?
1. Buttock Lift
Commonly performed on individuals over 40 years old, those who have given birth multiple times, or those with fat accumulation and sagging skin.Following liposuction to remove excess fat, incisions are strategically placed based on fat distribution and skin laxity—typically on the upper outer buttock near the inner thigh crease or along the lower buttock crease (gluteal fold). During the procedure, sagging tissues like the gluteal muscles are lifted, excess skin is excised, and fat is grafted. This procedure achieves an attractive buttock contour. It should be noted that a scar will be present on the buttocks. However, surgeons position incisions within the gluteal crease, lower waist, or inner thigh crease—areas inherently concealed even in swimwear. With meticulous suturing, these scars become increasingly inconspicuous over time (typically after 6 months).
2. Buttock Augmentation (Gluteal Augmentation)
This procedure addresses buttock flatness caused by overall thinness, underdeveloped gluteal muscles and fat, or insufficient fullness despite adequate overall size. It also corrects the absence of a defined gluteal crest. For severe cases of flatness, foreign countries use flat implants similar to silicone gel breast implants—larger in base area but lower in height. Under local anesthesia, through an incision in the gluteal crease, the skin and subcutaneous fat are dissected. The implant is placed in the subcutaneous layer, on the surface of the gluteal muscles, and secured to the muscle surface with specialized fixation devices around its perimeter. This technique is not yet performed domestically. Instead, autologous fat injection and transplantation is employed. Multiple procedures can achieve ideal results with minimal post-operative scarring, making it more suitable for Asian individuals.
3. Buttock Liposuction
Suitable for younger patients with uniformly distributed buttock fat deposits and good skin elasticity. Excess fat is removed via tumescent liposuction, ensuring uniform suction while preserving the buttock's natural curves and transitions. The gluteal crease should remain defined with smooth, natural transitions.Through skin contraction and the use of elastic bandages, a fuller, more contoured buttock shape is sculpted.
Preoperative Preparation and Postoperative Care
Buttock liposuction and injection augmentation require no special care. Buttock lift surgery, however, demands higher standards. Preoperative procedures include general physical examinations to assess organ health (heart, liver, lungs, kidneys) for anesthesia and surgical tolerance. Patients should bathe three days prior and minimize fiber-rich foods. For buttock lift patients: - Bed rest for 5 days post-surgery - Increase vegetable intake for 2 weeks to prevent constipation - Take sufficient antibiotics - Sutures typically removed after 2 weeks - Avoid strenuous exercise for 1 month - Wear compression bandages for 3 months
In summary, as people increasingly focus on their physical appearance, cosmetic surgeons continue to develop new techniques and methods to meet the growing demand for aesthetic enhancement.
